Description
There are only two original D24 cars surviving. One is in private US hands and the other in a major European museum. This car is one of four reconstructed in the 1980s by Luciano Basso, the Lancia Museum’s official restorer and by Guido Rosani, a highly regarded engineer whose father was a director of Lancia in the 1950s. Basso and Rosani had the full assistance and support of both Lancia and Pininfarina. To insure absolute accuracy the original drawings were used during the construction of the D24 replicas. Guido Rosani was instrumental in tracking down many of the original components including the sole surviving 3.8 litre engine, numbered D25 0001 which was used in the construction of this car. It is UK road registered and has UK (old style) FIA papers. For the last 15 years, the car has been maintained to the highest standard by well-known race engineers Jim Stokes Workshops Limited. While in JSW care the car has been developed into a totally reliable race winner, equally capable of being used for rallies and concours d’élégance. Recent work includes overhaul of the transaxle, steering, front suspension and front and rear brakes. The car has been raced with great success in many of the premier events throughout the world.
