1978 Rebuilt Nova 8 Cylinder Engine

Engine Specs: 1978 Rebuilt Chevy Nova Engine, 8 Cylinder, Holley Carburetor and Brand New Battery installed on 4/14 (cost $76.00). Engine started fine on 4/14/2012, roared like a lion and doesn’t miss a beat.

Car Body Specs: 1977 Chevy Nova body, 4 door, Body Painted Blue, Beige and Brown Plaid Interior, Goodrich Radial T/A Tires.

I inherited this car from my late fiance in 1996. The Kelly Blue Book value at the time was $650. He bought the 1978 Chevy Nova in Kentucky in 1988, rebuilt the engine and put on the Holley carburetor. He was a scientist at Cornell who grew up as a country boy in Kentucky and worked on cars with his buddies since high school. You can bet when it was rebuilt it was done meticulously and done well. I drove the car in the past and it would easily get up to 100 mph on the open road.

The 1978 engine was put into the 1977 body in 1995 after an accident totaled the 1978 body. It was stored on black top with a car cover until it was moved to a barn for storage in 2002. The body has some rust and will not pass inspection in its present condition without some work and parts put into it. I returned to New York in April and we got her out of the barn and installed a new battery. She started up after 10 years and continued to turn over and start again. The engine roars like a lion and doesn’t miss a beat. Mechanics have looked at it and said it is a great engine.

I’ve learned through research and talking with car collectors, etc. that it is the 2-door muscle car that is desirable as a collector’s item not a 4-door sedan. Hence, I’m selling this car for the engine, new battery, radial tires and parts. This car holds a lot of memories and I would like “Old Blue” to go to someone who will get that engine roaring on the road again where she belongs.
