Originally finished in Ivory Gold Mist Metallic, a previous owner decided to paint the car a cream color. A tan vinyl top offset the color and the vinyl interior is black.
The original matching numbers 400 V8 engine gives the look of never having been molested. This engine starts and runs very well and idles smoothly. It has plenty of power to easily chirp the tires. The automatic transmission engages firmly and shifts as it should. The power assisted drum brakes work well and do not appear to drag or pull. This car is driveable!
The body is actually pretty solid. All the floor pans, rocker panels, and quarter panels are solid.
Obviously the vinyl roof needs to be replaced. The interior needs to be attended to. Fortunately, everything needed to fix the interior is readily available from many parts vendors.
This GS400 has an column shift and bench seat. The original Sonomatic AM radio is included but not installed.
If you are a fan of the Buick GS400 Muscle Car or just 68-72 Skylarks in general, this would make an excellent project car. It's pretty much all there, it's solid, and it runs/drives as it is. This would make one fine Muscle Car once restored.
