说明

Succeeding the MGA, B range of models were innovative for their era. The lightweight monocoque construction produced a car that was economical for MG to produce, but equally offered performance and style to sports car enthusiasts. The Roadster was the first of the range, manufactured from 1962 until the closure of the Abingdon factory in 1980. The V8 Roadster is the Sports Car that BL Cars should have built. Specialists such as Ken Costello produced their own conversions long before the MG BGT V8 was born. This very special example started life as an MG B Mk III Roadster. It was supplied by Taggarts (Airdrie) Ltd to a Miss Beatrice Barr of Baildon. In the late eighties, an MG enthusiast purchased NYS 2V and set about a comprehensive bare shell rebuild. The body assembly was professionally sandblasted to bare metal, the floor and sill panels (inner, outer and castle sections) were replaced and the body shell was professionally repainted in Tartan Red. At this time, we understand, the V8 conversion was carried out, which was complemented with a Rover five-speed gearbox and the overhaul and upgrading of the suspension and rear axle. To contend with the extra power, the brakes were also uprated to four pot callipers. The upholstery has been replaced with quality tan leather and matching carpets. A chrome bumper conversion has recently been carried out; new Minilite alloy wheels with new tyres and a Holley carburettor have all been fitted. The original bumpers and Rostyle road wheels are included in the sale. This exciting V8 sports car is supplied with the original Passport to Service and the Supercover wallet, together with a wiring diagram, data, other documentation, the V5C registration certificate and numerous MOT test certificates, including the current.
